Add to Home Screen

  1. Open this page in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  3. Tap Add. It opens full screen like an app and works offline.

Everyday use

In Messages or WhatsApp, long-press the message and tap Copy. Open Fidel Reader and tap Paste.

One-tap from the Share sheet (optional)

A Shortcut lets you select any Amharic text, tap Share, and land here with it already read.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap +. Name it Read Amharic.
  2. Tap the info button, turn on Show in Share Sheet, and set the share sheet types to Text.
  3. Add the action URL Encode, with Shortcut Input as its text.
  4. Add the action Open URLs. For the URL, paste the link below and then insert the URL Encoded Text variable right after the =.

How the letters map

Every Fidel character is one consonant plus one vowel. The seven vowel forms of ለ, in both styles:
